I haven’t painted a lot of people, but I think I do okay. ) You can’t go wrong with bunnies. Well, *I* can’t go wrong with bunnies. Are you having a good weekend? Lovely weather here, finally. Seemed like one of the longest winters ever. The flowers are starting to bloom.
When I saw this little bun being shared in photo form by Les Liddle, of course my heart skipped a beat and I had to paint him. What a little sweet-pea, all innocence and joy. I added in the flowers to keep him grounded. A perfect little piece for a child’s room, don’t you think?Continue reading “painting: baby bun”
A sweet little chickadee adds a touch of whimsy to a formal flower arrangement. I reworked the background color, changing it from gray to yellow. There are bits of gray showing through, which adds visual interest. I painted from a reference photo shared by Wendy Hodgkins Corniquet. 16″x20″ oil on cradled wood board. Available here.Continue reading “paintings: tulips, and a rabbit”
I think when I started this bun, I expected him to turn out more brown. Somehow all the blue/gray crept in. Funny how that happens, all on its own. Sometimes I’m just as surprised how these turn out as are you. 🙂 I painted from a reference photo shared by Linda MacMillan. 9″x12″ oil onContinue reading “painting: cottontail”
I bought a lot of these wood boards to use just before the price of wood started skyrocketing. When I went to replenish my supply, I saw they are being hit by the price increase. Believe me, I am not pricing these higher than canvas paintings just because I think I deserve a raise–the woodContinue reading “painting: hare”
I’m loving working with brushes again. Every so often, I guess you have to change things up just to keep things feeling fresh. I’ve never been good with that out-of-focus sort of background, but I think these last couple weeks I’ve finally found success. Eastern Bluebird, 8″x8″ oil on cradled board, in my Etsy shopContinue reading “paintings: a bluebird, and a cottontail”
Just in time for spring, a cute bunny just about to disappear. Love that flash of tail! 8″x8″ oil on cradled wood board. Available in my Etsy shop. 🙂 SOLD, Thank YOU!!!!
We’re round the corner, heading towards 2020. Wow. Two whole decades of the 21st century already gone. Well, mostly, right? Are you ready for Christmas? Not me. Not even close. Maybe you know someone who would appreciate a bunny painting? This one is in colors that are darker than I usually work with, but IContinue reading “painting: doe bunny (10/31/19)”
11″x14″ oil on stretched canvas. Available in my etsy shop. I painted in this looser style a couple days this week. For anybody doing the painting-a-day challenge, this is really the way to achieve that goal. Sometimes I think my knife paintings look a little stiff, and this brush exercise helps work on the flowingContinue reading “painting: Belgian Hare (07/29/19)”
These both have a slat frame, but Home Depot stopped selling the wood I liked. This is thinner, and a touch narrower. I guess I like it okay, maybe the other kind was too heavy? It’s just odd when someplace stops selling something. There’s not even a slot and label for it anymore, so it’sContinue reading “painting: a hare and a horse (10/09/18)”
