I let all the colors flow organically, without any planning. Or, which is to say, I started with a little bit of planning but that fell apart right away and it just painted itself. I love how it turned out. I painted from a reference photo shared by Nadi Spencer 11″x14″ oil on cradled woodContinue reading “painting: colorful horse”

painting: horse friends
This one looks a little different than my usual work, because I painted on wood hardboard. There is no tooth like there is in canvas, it is perfectly smooth surface. I’m very happy with how it turned out, and I’m going to stock up on more of these surfaces. 12″x12″ oil on cradled hardboard. AvailableContinue reading “painting: horse friends”

Softly, Softly, by the River’s Edge
There’s a lot of “wow” factor to this one in person. I will be sorry when it sells. The reference photo I worked from was taken by Gary Odell, of wild horses in–I think–Arizona. I imagine the horses’ lives are constantly on edge, with dangers from inside and outside the herd. Trust is pretty rare.Continue reading “Softly, Softly, by the River’s Edge”
