painting: black bear

black bear 10″x10″

If you notice some areas of the darker color seem shinier than others, this is because I took the photo before varnishing the painting. Sometimes varnish will cause a photo glare, so wait to varnish. In this case, varnish would even out the shininess so everything is uniform. Varnish both protects the colors from fading, and creates a uniform finish. Just make sure to use a non-yellowing formula. I don’t know why they are still on the market (they must have a use), but they are. I painted from a reference photo shared on the Facebook group, Free Reference Photos for Artists.

10″x10″ Oil on cradled wood board, available in my Etsy shop. SOLD, thank you!
