If you notice some areas of the darker color seem shinier than others, this is because I took the photo before varnishing the painting. Sometimes varnish will cause a photo glare, so wait to varnish. In this case, varnish would even out the shininess so everything is uniform. Varnish both protects the colors from fading, and creates a uniform finish. Just make sure to use a non-yellowing formula.
