Every year the Umatilla County Fair kicks off with a parade. Lots of cowboys on horseback for me to snap photos of, and this year we had an overcast sky so the photos turned out particularly well (not such strong shadows as usual). The temperature was still in the 90s, but every now and then a little breeze would blow.
Here are a few of my favorite moments.
This is a good “I’m on my way” view. May show up in a painting one day.
This year there were a lot of skewbald horses. I love to paint them!
I painted this gentleman’s horse last year, I love he just has the rope bit through the mouth.
Can you see all the beadwork on these ladies’ saddle gear? So pretty. And I mean those dresses, too. So pretty.
I took the photo because of the guy riding the mechanical bull. I can’t imagine twirling on that thing while the truck is simultaneously moving. I know how sick I would get just being on the bull, but BOTH….
Tillamook guy pulled a face for me.
Hermiston is famous for its watermelons. This year has been extra hot, so I bet the watermelon crop was a success.
Look at that cheerleader up in the air! This was done over concrete, about every 30 steps. Would you trust your team? Wow.
So that’s all the photos in no particular order. Another great parade!
