Last weekend I opened Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey and got to work finishing up some crafts. So I got a whole lot of Making Something Pretty Today done.
For Christmas, I asked my dad to make this wood cut out. I saw something on the internet and sent a photo, and my mom sketched the rabbit and dad cut it out. I needed to match it to my other interior doodads, so wanted it left unpainted.
I don’t have anything yet to hang on the pegs, but I will. My teacup handles don’t fit over the peg ends, drat, or I’d be hanging out teacups.
I gave it one coat of gray chalk paint, and then sanded the edges to give it a more shabby chic feel, and then gave a clear coat of furniture wax over all.
Pretty great, right?
And then since I had the can of paint open, I painted these little birds, which started out as cast iron sold at Hobby Lobby. If something isn’t on sale for 50% off at Hobby Lobby, just wait a week or two! It will be!
The gray was to dark for the little birds, so I added a coat of acrylic titanium white.
The only problem with acrylic paint is you can’t sand it off and add that vintage feel. Acrylic is like plastic, and sort of rolls off in a long scratch. So I had to just daub and try to make sure the coverage was uneven.
I am so happy it’s the weekend, I expect to spend some time quilting! Are you making anything pretty today?
