I made this bedrunner as a Christmas gift. It’s about 18-inches wide, and the length is four times that. It’s meant to lay at the foot of the bed and collect cat hair so one’s bedcovering isn’t quite so fuzzy. And I notice our own cat jumps up with claws out, which also can’t be good for bedcover, so if you can train your cat to only jump up at the end, a bedrunner like this will extend the life of your more expensive blankets.
Plus, it’s way classier than using a towel on your bed for the same purpose.
**Why didn’t I make the corners all match up so the diamond patterns are more perfect? The size of each square allowed me to cut out only three squares per width of fabric — not four. Next time, I would probably figure out how to fit four squares across, and make them all match. For it’s cat hair collecting purpose, I think it looks just fine this way.

Great bedrunner. I know exactly who that was made for and I bet they love it!
BTW, I use this tutorial for making my string blocks. The corners all line up into nice diamonds this way. http://sewlux.blogspot.jp/2012/01/scrap-attack-strings-qal-block-tutorial.html
But, I love the scrappy look, and I think that’s a lot what string quilts are all about! Very nice bed runner, I’m sure that the recipient will be thrilled with it!
What a great idea, if only I could quilt!
We do love it!! Thank you so much. It looks great on our bed and adds a bit of color and interest to our single color bedcover. We appreciate the time and effort you put into this thoughtful gift!
